We welcome you to the 2013 Midwest Anesthesia Residents’ Conference in Kansas City, the Jazz and BBQ Capital of the World. This year’s meeting is hosted by The Departments of Anesthesiology of the University of Missouri (UMKC and UM-Columbia) and the University of Kansas (KU-Kansas City and KU-Wichita) and it is our privilege to have you visit one of Mid-America’s great cities.

This is your conference and the faculty of our four universities will strive to make you feel at home as we meet in the heart of Kansas City at the Westin Crown Center. As part of the conference, we will host an exhibitors’ reception on Friday night at the Westin and a special event on Saturday night at Science City located at Union Station, which is only a short indoor or outdoor walk from the Westin Crown Center. Chief residents will attend a pre-conference session concurrent to the Chairs’ and Program Directors’ luncheons. All research and clinical reports will be presented Saturday. Sunday will bring workshops on practice management and TEE.

Those of you who are new to MARC will appreciate the opportunities that arise from meeting with the residents and faculty from over 30 anesthesiology residency programs stretching from Kansas to New York. MARC is your chance to present your work and to see what residents at other anesthesiology programs have accomplished. I guarantee you will enjoy this meeting and will want to return to the 2014 meeting in Chicago.
